We select botanical oils, butters, herbs, mineral salts and other ingredients according to the purpose, texture and character of each product.
Some ingredients nourish. Some soften. Some exfoliate. Others bring colour, aroma or a distinctive sensory experience to the formula.
Together, they create the rituals that define Careful Body Care.
Calendula + Rose Infused Olive Oil
Our Calendula + Rose infused olive oil is one of the signatures of Careful Body Care.
Calendula and rose petals are slowly infused into extra virgin olive oil, allowing the oil to take on the colour and character of the botanicals over time.
The finished infusion has a rich golden tone and silky feel that makes it especially beautiful in salves, body butters and scrubs.
Botanical Oils
Plant oils form the foundation of many of our formulas.
Depending on the product, we work with oils such as jojoba, rosehip, argan, meadowfoam, avocado, borage, cranberry seed and other carefully selected botanical oils.
Each brings its own texture, richness and skin feel to a formulation.
Botanical Butters
Rich plant butters help give our body-care formulas their comforting texture.
Ingredients such as shea butter create the dense, creamy feel that makes body butter especially satisfying on dry or moisture-depleted skin.
Herbs & Botanicals
Herbs and flowers have always been an important part of Careful Body Care.
Calendula, rose, rosemary, plantain, yarrow and other botanicals appear throughout the collection, whether infused into oils or incorporated into individual formulations.
We choose them not only for their traditional use in body care, but also for the colour, character and sensory experience they bring to a product.
Mineral Salt, Sugar & Coffee
Our exfoliating ingredients are selected to create distinctly different rituals.
Fine-grain Dead Sea mineral salt gives Solstice its refined mineral texture.
Demerara sugar gives Ember its warm colour and gradually dissolving exfoliation.
Fair trade coffee brings a rich, earthy character to our coffee scrub.
Each offers its own approach to smoothing and polishing the skin.
Essential Oils & Natural Aromatics
Where essential oils are used, they are selected to complement the character of the formula and its overall sensory experience.
Not every Careful Body Care product contains essential oils, and we formulate each product according to its intended use rather than following a single formula philosophy across the entire collection.
A Thoughtful Approach to Formulation
We believe good skin care begins with understanding what each ingredient contributes to the whole.
Our formulas are developed in small batches with close attention to ingredient quality, texture, consistency and the experience of using the finished product.
